Variant Manager
A Craft CMS plugin for managing Craft Commerce variants as combinations of attributes and options.
Save time and reduce mistakes in complex product management
For most Craft Commerce websites, developers choose to hard-code variant attributes (like “Color”) and their options (like “Blue, Green, Red”) into unique, custom fields. The problem is, hard-coding variants makes updates time-consuming and expensive.
With Variant Manager, site admins, content editors, and product inventory teams can create endless variant attribute options without the need for a developer to make changes to the CMS code.
Variant Manager also reduces the work for developers. A developer only needs to set up the plugin’s variant attribute field once to allow content teams to enter their own dynamic attributes and options forever.
Use our Variant Manager to instantly and easily update products’ variants:
One Variant Attributes field for every attribute and option, on every product type
Add a new attribute or option without a developer touching a field, a field layout, or a template
Build a product’s variants from a spreadsheet, or generate them in the control panel
Unlimited products and variants allowed
Download accurate variant data in a per-product CSV file
See every import’s outcome, and the reason when one fails
-
Variant attributes
One Variant Attributes field on every product type, instead of a hard-coded custom field for Color, another for Size, and another for Material. Each variant stores its own attribute names and values, so a merchant adds a new attribute or a new option without a developer touching a field, a field layout, or a template.
-
Metadata on every attribute and option
Each attribute and each option is its own element with its own custom fields, so Color can hold a hex value and Blue can hold a swatch image or a spec sheet. Every attribute also carries a display type, from dropdowns and radio buttons to text buttons, image swatches, color swatches, and lightswitches, which your Twig reads to render the picker.
-
Products from a CSV
One file becomes one product and all of its variants. A filename starting with a product ID, like
42__classic-tee.csv, updates that product; any other filename creates a new one. Columns map to product fields, variant fields, per-site Commerce fields, inventory levels, and variant attributes. -
Whole catalog at once
Upload a zip of CSVs and each file becomes its own product. One bad file does not stop the rest, and every import is logged with its outcome, and on failure the reason, with the retention period up to you.
-
Export and reimport
Exports come back in the shape the importer reads, so a spreadsheet round trip needs no cleanup. Export one product from its edit page, or a selection from the products index.
-
Generate variants without a spreadsheet
Pick the attributes and options to combine and Variant Maker builds every combination in the control panel. Each option can carry a SKU partial and a price modifier, so every combination gets its own SKU and its own price. A preview lists what generating would change before any variant is written.
-
One index for every variant
A Variants index lists every variant in the store on its own, rather than nested under its product, so a filter applies across the whole catalog. Filter on stock, on whether inventory is tracked, and on any registered attribute. Name the fields your team should be able to set in bulk and the index writes one value across a selection.
-
Build the storefront in Twig
Read a product’s attributes and options in Twig to build variant pickers, swatches, and filtered listings, and query variants by attribute value.
